Back home

Maybe I’m just too flashy.

20/10/2007

I got my second rejection letter the other day. Same deal pretty much.

We enjoyed meeting you.
We are impressed with your qualifications.
We regret we can not offer you a second round interview.
The decision was difficult.

Now, because I hate to think that it has something to do with my personality or just me in general, I’ll blame it on the fact that I may just be too flashy. I tried to tone down, I really did. I downsized my earrings, cut my nails (gasp), went with a neutral nail polish color (okay, maybe red isn’t neutral but it’s as neutral as it’s going to get over here), bought some boring black shoes, tried to make sure all my tattoos were covered… but I guess it wasn’t enough.

Maybe my suit wasn’t suity enough. But honestly, traditional suits are just fugly to me so until I find one that is halfway decent, it’s just not going to happen. I’m sorry. Maybe the fuschia shirt I wore underneath my jacket threw them off. But I got to throw some color in there somewhere. Maybe my new foot tattoo made an appearance and someone saw. Who knows.

Whatever it was I know it couldn’t have been my personality because, lets face it, I’m the greatest.

So… I’m going to wait to hear from these last two companies before I drag my tired, fabulous ass back out there and start interviewing again. I got my fingers crossed.

Don’t worry. I didn’t die.

Maybe it’s the old lady in me again, but by the time I get home from school all I really feel like doing is laying on the couch to watch Law & Order marathons all night. School really has me drained right now, 18 hours is no joke and when you’ve been carrying that big of a load for 3 semesters straight plus a full load in the summer, it becomes somewhat overwhelming. I’ll be glad when December gets here. Now if someone would just give me a freakin job!! I went on my third interview today, and let me tell you it was no joke. He started asking me all these logic questions at the end that threw me for a loop. For example:

If Mary and Sally caught 25 fish, and Mary caught 4 times more than Sally, how many fish did Mary catch?

I got the questions right, but I had to ask buddy to repeat each one about 3 times. I really just wasn’t expecting these types of questions during my interview. Hopefully he didn’t think I was too big of an idiot.

The company I interview with yesterday already got in contact with me to tell me that they were impressed, but unfortunately not interested. I’m disappointed, especially since I thought I did the best with them, but oh well. Nothing to jump in front of a bus over.

Maybe I shouldn’t have spent all these years learning… instead of wasting my time in the library I should’ve been scoping me out a rich husband, lol.
