The craziest shit I’ve ever seen. Ever.

3/02/2008

I don’t go out often, but it seems whenever I do something exciting, or in last nights case scary happens.

As my girls and I were trying to get into my car after leaving the club last night this black Escalade comes flying around the corner, jumps a couple of sidewalks and barriers almost hits a drive-through ATM, swerves and comes flying at us (the scary part) but at the last minute swerves again and jumps another barrier where ends up under this walkway in the parking deck and finally crashes.

It was so crazy to see this live and in person, I wish I could’ve videotaped it, because unless you were actually there seeing it for yourself you wouldn’t really believe it. The really crazy part was only a few minutes before the girl who was also in the car (and whose car it was) was driving but she switched places with the guy so he could drive. So, had she been driving all this wouldn’t have happened. The really messed up part was after it happened, he climbed out the window and just walked off. He didn’t even run, he just calmly walked off like nothing had even happened.

Free at last.

14/12/2007

I finally got through the semester. I had my last presentation earlier today and now I am through until I walk that stage on Monday. The feeling of finally being through with my undergraduate career is like no other, I can’t even imagine how I’ll be feeling on Monday when I have on my cap and gown and it officially becomes a reality.

This semester was one of my toughest, if not the toughest. I was taking 18 hours, all MIS classes with the exception of my business capstone class, projects on top of projects as well as my Security+ certification. And yet, it turned out to be my most successful semester. I’ve gotten 5 grades back so far: 4 A’s and 1 B. I’m also expecting a B in the class I presented for today.

It’s amazing that it took me so long to get my act together. If you look at my transcript for the first 4 years you would be appalled at how poorly I did. But, if there’s anything I learned here at school it’s that it’s never too late. I’ve known so many people who gave up on their original majors because they couldn’t get their gpa up and switched to a “nothing” major with no gpa requirements just to graduate, but for me that was never an option (not trying to knock anyone who took that route though). It may have taken me longer than some other people but I stuck with it and pulled my grades up and now I’m finally graduating with my degree in Management Information Systems.

Sorry if I’m sounding preachy.

If you know me at all, you know I’m somewhat flashy. I’m not too out there with it, but I do like to go against the grain. So… for my graduation, no plain black shoes for me. I’m wearing my cow print BCBG pumps and I got a custom made sash so that I stand out just a little. I love it. (Don’t worry, lots of pics will be taken of the actual day).

121407.pngI’m going to Orlando Tuesday and then Las Vegas after that, so I most likely won’t be updating till I get back, but I will try and keep my twitter updated for you. So, with that being said… Merry Christmas to everyone. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas then…. Happy Holidays to you!

Remembering Emily

12/09/2007

One year ago today, I lost a friend.

While I don’t think of myself as a great writer, I’ve never had as much trouble writing about something as I am now. I start, stop, cry, erase and then start all over again. It’s hard enough remembering Emily without crying but to actually express this in the written word is proving to be much more difficult that I thought it would be.

While I doubt I’ll ever forget Emily, her smile is something I know I’ll remember forever. Still, she was so much more than just a smile. She accomplished so many things in her 23 years. She made history. She touched lives. Mine included. I consider myself very lucky to have known her and to have been able to call her a friend.

“Her tenacity, her passion for life. One of the things that was important to Emily was not the fear of death but the fear of not living.” – Faith Bell

Got my lunchbox packed and I’m ready to go.

First day of school. More specifically, first day of last semester of school. I have 6 classes, 18 hours, all MIS classes. Yep, this is finna be one hell of a semester.

And, because you know I love to shop & I love nails I decided to get this slightly pricey, but nonetheless dope shirt from NailsDid.

Inspired by the shirt, I decided to pick up my striping brush and start doing nail art again.

PS I don’t really have a lunchbox. More like a debit card, but isn’t it all the same?
