Free at last.
I finally got through the semester. I had my last presentation earlier today and now I am through until I walk that stage on Monday. The feeling of finally being through with my undergraduate career is like no other, I can’t even imagine how I’ll be feeling on Monday when I have on my cap and gown and it officially becomes a reality.
This semester was one of my toughest, if not the toughest. I was taking 18 hours, all MIS classes with the exception of my business capstone class, projects on top of projects as well as my Security+ certification. And yet, it turned out to be my most successful semester. I’ve gotten 5 grades back so far: 4 A’s and 1 B. I’m also expecting a B in the class I presented for today.
It’s amazing that it took me so long to get my act together. If you look at my transcript for the first 4 years you would be appalled at how poorly I did. But, if there’s anything I learned here at school it’s that it’s never too late. I’ve known so many people who gave up on their original majors because they couldn’t get their gpa up and switched to a “nothing” major with no gpa requirements just to graduate, but for me that was never an option (not trying to knock anyone who took that route though). It may have taken me longer than some other people but I stuck with it and pulled my grades up and now I’m finally graduating with my degree in Management Information Systems.
Sorry if I’m sounding preachy.
If you know me at all, you know I’m somewhat flashy. I’m not too out there with it, but I do like to go against the grain. So… for my graduation, no plain black shoes for me. I’m wearing my cow print BCBG pumps and I got a custom made sash so that I stand out just a little. I love it. (Don’t worry, lots of pics will be taken of the actual day).
I’m going to Orlando Tuesday and then Las Vegas after that, so I most likely won’t be updating till I get back, but I will try and keep my twitter updated for you. So, with that being said… Merry Christmas to everyone. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas then…. Happy Holidays to you!

vicki, i am so- proud of you. congratulations!
i was/am in the same boat as you as far as my grades from my first 3 years. getting my gpa up was difficult, but determination and faith make all things happen.
again, congrats. i already know you are gonna look fly as hell walking across the stage. can’t wait to see the pics. enjoy your post-grad vacations.

Congratulations! It’s very refreshing to see when someone goes through with their goals. When I stopped attending college, I decided to change my major, not because I wasn’t doing well, but because I got a taste of what working in a school would be like because I worked at a bilingual middle school for 2 years and then a preschool for a while after that (I was an Elementary/Special Education major. Let me tell you, it’s very tough working with children and with my lack of patience, I knew for sure that I couldn’t handle that type of environment. Instead, I’ve decided to go back to school for Photography and Graphic Design, both of which I love to do. I believe that everyone should go to school for something that they truly love doing as opposed to going just for the money. I mean, money helps, but how could you really do a good job if you’re really not that interested? And that’s where most people screw up. They get themselves involved in careers that they really have no interest in and end up having to start all over with something new. Anyway, I’m rambling. I hope that your New Year was a good one and good luck at your graduation!

Hi there, Victoria, I stumbled across this page, like literally clicked on it from concreteloop.com b/c i’ve been thinking about starting an underwear company , LOL… and ur site being called Victoria Has no secrets I clicked on it…LOL…silly me , but what I found and what I read was very inspiring. This blog entry was exaclty what I needed to read on this boring Thursday night at work. I am in my 4th year of collefe at FSU and have pretty much the same story as you, I am not done with school as of yet but i’ve been getting discouraged and beating myself up about not doing well my 1st 4 years and not being the student i know i can be. I realized that what has happened has happened there is nothing i can do about it but make good grades and graduate. Im a pre-med major and all of my friends that came in as Pre Med are definitely no longet in the same feild…i wanted to stick thru , medicine is the only thing i have evr wanted to do and im not going to let a few bad grades stop me. Where there is a will there is a way… soo anyways to make a long story short, UR blog was very inspiring, very uplifting. I cant even imagine the feeeling ill have when i finally walk across that stage! ill probably drop a few tears.. but all in all this must have been a sign from a higher power , i strongly believe this is a sign to remind me of the power of endurance and strength…. Its amazing how a few words from some1 u dotn even know can have such an impact! I wish u the very best in everything you do inthe future! Do it with style, do it with grace and DO IT BIG!
Make u next move ur best move
signing off,
Jo
